TPS Chaplaincy exists to provide spiritual, pastoral and practical support to people in custody and to all those who work there.
Pastoral and Spiritual care
Prison Chaplains are available to offer support to all inmates, remandees and staff to help navigate the circumstances they find themselves in.
Some of the ways we do this is through:

– Chapel services
Programs
TPS Chaplaincy service offer a number of programs delivered within the prison, as well as support for other faith communities and organisations. These courses aim to make positive impacts on inmates and remandees, assisting in their capacity to cope with their current sentence and make beneficial changes as they renter society. Some of these include:
- Alpha Course
- Positive Lifestyle program
- Change on the inside
- The Prisoner’s Journey
- Ridley certificate of theology
- Crossroads bible studies
- The inside out program
Chaplaincy also have a small Library that focuses on faith and spiritual growth. These books are available to inmates and remandees to borrow.
Post release support
Chaplaincy understand the importance of the transition from life inside to being out in the community. Chaplaincy offer to continue support by connecting them to a mentor who can assist navigating challenging one may face in reestablishing themselves into society. We also connect those who wish to a faith community of their choice to continue to support them.
Emergency relief
Chaplaincy is able to offer emergency relief for inmates and remandees in some situations. This can be in the form of emergency food vouchers upon release, financial aid in obtaining dentures and providing transport to the bus stop or new accommodation.
